Welcome to Heatherbrae School

principal Eva StevensDear Parents,

In conjunction with the entire Heatherbrae Elementary School Staff, I am pleased to introduce you to our school, a place where students and staff thrive and consider Heatherbrae a home away from home. Students are our focus and we are committed to promoting academic and behavioral success for each student by creating relationships that inform them that they are important to us. Every staff member is a student advocate and every decision is made in the best interest of our students. Highly qualified staff members work as a collaborative team to ensure that each student receives the instruction and support needed to help them develop as leaders and learners. This unique group of educators is guided by a common vision and collective commitments that empower them as they work to accelerate each student’s progress and close the achievement gap when it exists. Our teachers work in collaborative grade level and school-wide teams to identify research based-strategies, plan, reflect and learn. Each staff member embraces feedback as a personal gift and provides feedback to students to enable students to reach their target.

Heatherbrae Elementary School is a K-5 school with approximately 750 students and 70 staff members. Our initiatives include a focus on strong Tier I instruction in a Multi Tiered System of Support (MTSS) where students develop proficiency in the use of Thinking Maps, Kagan Structures and technology. We offer classes for English Language Learners at all grade levels. Gifted cluster classes are available for students who qualify. High expectations are embedded within the culture of our school. It begins with adults demonstrating high expectations for themselves and transfers to students holding themselves accountable for making good choices. Heatherbrae students actively monitor their progress. They are partners in the rigorous process of meeting Arizona College and Career Ready Standards.

Parents are welcome and invited to join the PTO, attend monthly Coffee Talks, attend classes on various topics or become a school volunteer. We LOVE volunteers and encourage parents to become involved in a way that is convenient for you. Contact our school liaison, Flora Aguilla at 623-691-5226. We welcome your voice and your presence as we look forward to making every day a fantastic day for each student.

Mrs. Eva Harris Stevens
